Visual Studio Code is an open-source, multi-platform code editor created and developed by Microsoft, which supports extensions, IntelliSense, advanced debugging, code refactors, and more. It is one of the most popular source code editors. The first preview release of Visual Studio Code was released in 2014.

Like with Windows, there are insider builds available, which give the user the latest releases each day, however unlike Windows insider builds these builds are available to all without having to sign up.[1]
