Windows Server 2003 build 3790.1830 is the official RTM build of Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, which was released on 30 March 2005.

Service Pack 1 introduced a number of changes, including new features for platforms other than x86-32. Notably, Service Pack 1 now allows themes on platforms such as AMD64 and Itanium, which were previously disabled at the source level. In addition the version banner no longer distinguishes the platform, instead only showing the Windows version and edition.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

  • Added Security Configuration Wizard, for automatically configuring enabled roles and disabling unused ones and reduce security surface attacks,
  • Improved Windows Firewall, which is backported from Windows XP SP2,
  • Introduced Post-Setup Security Updates (PSSU) mechanism, which blocks outgoing connections to Windows Update after installing crucial system updates,
  • Isolation mechanism of network-specific components in IIS 6.0 was implemented,
  • Fixed issues with AMD64 counterpart builds, making them more stable and backporting all remained features from x86, such as SCSI storage support and VGA drivers.
