Hidden way to activate Retail Demo Mode during OOBE[edit source]

I have discovered that if I tap or click on "Is this the right country or region?" five times, I get a message box that says "You're about to turn on the retail demo experience. This is meant for retail use only. If you're not trying to use this PC for a store demo, cancel and return to normal setup". If I click "Cancel", I'm taken back to the normal setup process. If I click "Confirm", a new message box appears that says "You've turned on the retail demo experience. Continue to go through with Setup. We'll help you get the latest demo content and apps." with the "Continue" button. After this, I go through "Is this the right country or region?", "Is this the right keyboard layout or input method?", "Want to add a second keyboard layout?", "Let's connect you to a network (with the "I don't have internet" button)", and "Please review the License Agreement". After clicking "Accept" for the license terms, I then see "Get the latest demo content and apps" screen followed by "RDX admin settings". On the "RDX admin settings" page, I can choose how long I want to keep the "RetailAdmin" account active for until access is removed. From there, I can choose to retain admin access indefinitely by setting a custom administrator password, or automatically remove administrator access either immediately or after 1 to 21 days. Right after the "RDX admin settings" page, I will then see the "It's time to create a demo Microsoft account" screen which states that I need a demo Microsoft account to enable demo experiences such as the Microsoft Store app. I then click "Finish" instead of "Use a different demo Microsoft account" to use the generic "Darrin DeYoung" account. I strongly recommend that you only do these steps in a virtual machine such as VMWare or VirtualBox unless you are setting up a PC as a retail display if you are a store employee. 65.93.83.80 04:36, 13 March 2022 (UTC)
