Windows Media Player 11 is a version of Windows Media Player introduced in late 2006 as a part of Windows Vista. It was also released for Windows XP Service Pack 2 and later.[1]

It is the last version of Windows Media Player to support Windows XP, including Professional x64 Edition (although Windows Server 2003 is not officially supported). The installer originally required the Windows Genuine Advantage checks to pass; that requirement was later dropped.

Installation[edit | edit source]

This version of Windows Media Player requires validation of the installation of Windows XP or Windows Server 2003. It will open Windows Product Activation where the user must activate the installation. The validation however can be bypassed by extracting the installer file and executing the included installer for the Windows Media Player, the Windows Media format runtime and the User-mode Driver Framework.
