Windows 10 build 17733 (rs5_release) is the twenty-third Insider Preview build of Windows 10 October 2018 Update. This build was released to Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring on 8 August 2018.
Changes[edit | edit source]
- The final improvements were made for the dark theme that was officially first introduced in build 17666 for File Explorer and the Open/Save dialogs.
- Other general changes, improvements, and fixes listed in the official release announcement.
Bugs[edit | edit source]
- If you delete a locally-stored folder that is synced to OneDrive, the system will crash with a green screen of death.
- Clicking a link to launch an app from another app sometimes may not work.
- The acrylic background on the taskbar flyouts (network, volume, etc) is missing.
- When the "Make text bigger" option in the Ease of Access Settings page is used, text clipping issues may be encountered, and sometimes the text may not resize everywhere.
- If you're using Windows 10 in S Mode, when launching Office from the Microsoft Store, it may fail with an error message saying that a .dll file “is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again.” Sometimes uninstalling and reinstalling Office from the Store can fix the problem.
- When using Narrator's scan mode, it may stop multiple times on a single control (an example is if there's an image present that doubles as a link).
- When using Narrator's scan mode, ⇧ Shift with selection commands in Microsoft Edge, the text does not get selected correctly.
- There's a chance of the Start menu causing performance and reliability issues in this build.
- After you set up a Windows Mixed Reality headset for the first time on this build with motion controllers, the controllers may have to be re-paired a second time before appearing in the headset.
- When using a Mixed Reality immersive app, saying "Flashlight on" may fail to turn on the flashlight feature even though the status appears as active on the Start menu.
- Reveal and light press effects do not work in this build.
