AboutOS2-Warp-3.0-8.152-Ver.png

OS/2 Warp 3 build 8.152 is the official Beta 2 build of OS/2 Warp 3. The setup interface has been overhauled and resembles the RTM. This build includes the Launchpad from the RTM of Warp 3 and also contains support for sounds. It is the first OS/2 build to include a startup and shutdown sound (a trumpet for the earlier and clapping for the latter). The build also updates the version to 2.99.

 IBM OS/2 08/94 WARP BETA ][ Size: 24 Disks Released 08/22/94
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

WARNING--- This may be a bug with Pkzip 2.04g registered: Compressing
DISP6.DSK with maximum compression will result in a corrupt
zipfile. Upon packaging, all disks were maximum-compressed
EXCEPT for WRP0894T.ZIP which was normal-compressed. This
little quirk does not happen when using normal-compression
on DISP6.DSK. If a BBS has maximum-compressed this file
during upload processing, it HAS BEEN DAMAGED and you will
have to get one that was still normal-compressed.

The files contained have been size and crc checked against WRP2PWA?.ZIP
released during the first week of July. This version is NOT the same as
the previously PWA-released "Warp Beta II". Our files are BIGGER.
IBM is using a different disk builder program (for extended disk capacity).
Not to mention there were a different number of disks altogether.
This version is supposed to work with Windows For Workgroups without the
  use of additional patch files.

This program was begotten while on IRC. The person typing doesn't know
if he should say who DCCed it to him, so he won't. However he will say
that it was supposed to have come from an OS/2 forum on Compuserve,
and IBM's date of release was approximately 8/20.

To all groups who make 50 line dizfiles where 49 lines are a group logo,
give it up. Our three-line dizfile won't clutter up BBS upload directories.
We didn't put in a 50k loader. We put an informative .NFO file (after all,
isn't it (i)NFO?) that tells you something about the program instead of
telling you about some "K-RaD PhIlEz" that were put out in under five
seconds. We don't have members, we don't have boards, and we certainly
don't have couriers. If there is interest in these files, they will
get themselves around. We will never make up some catchy phrase that
makes us sound better than everyone else. We're not. But we do what can
  be done.
To sysops who add BBS ads to everything, lose those filename randomizers.
They really bug people. And to sysops and couriers who RAPE the dizfile
by adding 'Leeched from' or 'Spread by' to the bottom, GET A CLUE. And
stop doing that! Users aren't interested in following the path of the
latest wares through all the cool (and not so cool!) BBSs and couriers in
the scene just by looking at the dizfile.
Also anyone who TyPEs LiKE ThIs should be shot, hung, poisoned,
disemboweled, and then REALLY hurt. Grow up will you?

If you like this beta version of OS/2, wait until a stable release comes
out and BUY IT. OS/2 is the best thing PC users have going. Whether
Windows 4.0 can touch it remains to be seen. Until then, if you would like
to contact the person typing via internet mail, send your questions/comments
to corn@anon.penet.fi and flames to /dev/null.

I'd like to quickly thank all the SYSOPS out there. I appreciate all
the time and effort and oh yeah the money that you invested in your
systems. All the nonsense you must have to put up with from k-rad kids
would make most people turn into serial murderers but I don't know that
many homicidal sysops anyway. Not to mention legal liability. Cheers
guys, you're really doing something special for computer geeks everywhere.
