Windows NT 3.51 build 1002 is a build of Windows NT 3.51, which was originally leaked by NTA on 20 April 1995 and mentioned in a newsgroup discussion[1] prior to it being found and shared on BetaArchive on 2 March 2020.[2] A patch for this build (most likely for its warez release, rather than the build itself) is listed in the DMODE-02 warez CD list.[3]

Changes[edit | edit source]

  • WINNT32.EXE now allows to skip the creation of a local source.
  • Changed the setup background to the one used by Windows 95 build 180.
  • WinBug Reporter tool has been removed.
  • Fixed broken detection of Pentium Pro and newer CPUs, a bug that first appeared in Windows NT 3.1 build 340.
  • Several CNT files have been added which stores HLP files in plain text format for HTML readers.
  • Added WINNT256.BMP, a variant of WINNT.BMP optimized for 256 colors or higher screens.
  • New bugcheck codes have been added.[6]
    • PP0_INITIALIZATION_FAILED (0x8F)
    • PP1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED (0x90)
    • WIN32K_INIT_OR_RIT_FAILURE (0x91)

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

  • ARIAL.TTF is corrupted in available copies of this build, making the regular style of Arial unusable. It will often also fail to expand properly, and may have an abnormal file extension after expanding.
