Windows Me build 2525 is the official Release Candidate 0 build of Windows Me, released by Microsoft on 8 May 2000[1][2][3][4].
Changes[edit | edit source]
- For unknown reasons, Windows NetMeeting was downgraded from version 3.1 to 3.01 SP2.
- This is the first build of Windows Me to have an animated tour. When launched, it plays a video, which is noticeably the same as in Windows 98 builds 1569 - 1581.
- The Beta ID prompt when launching setup and at first login has been removed.
Neptune reference[edit | edit source]
A file named ICMUI.DLL, with the version number 5.50.5117.1 was found in this Windows Me build, but it is unknown whether this Neptune build was ever compiled.
Some speculate this would've been a Milestone 2 build. It would've been compiled someday after 11 December 1999, meaning it would be one of the last Neptune builds before the Neptune project was canceled in January 2000.
