Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
Installation[edit | edit source]
The installation disk is not bootable, but contains a set of disk images which each must be copied onto a set of 13 floppy disks in 3.5" 1.44MB format. To copy the installation files to floppy disks for use, run the LOADDSKF <drive installation media is in>:\DISKIMGS\OS2\35\DISK#.DSK
command in the DISKIMGS
directory, where # is a number from 0 (installation boot disk) to 12. Repeat for the display and print disks via LOADDSKF <drive installation media is in>:\DISKIMGS\OS2\35\DISP#.DSK
and LOADDSKF <drive installation media is in>:\DISKIMGS\OS2\35\PMDD#.DSK
, where # is a number from 1 to 3.
Alternatively for a CD installation, run only LOADDSKF <drive installation media is in>:\DISKIMGS\OS2\35\DISK0.DSK
and LOADDSKF <drive installation media is in>:\DISKIMGS\OS2\35\DISK1_CD.DSK
to provide the two floppy disks necessary for a CD installation.
The IBM1FLPY.ADD
file on disk 1 (both for floppy and CD installation) is corrupted. After copying all of the files to the required floppies, it is necessary to replace the IBM1FLPY.ADD
file on disk 1 with one from OS/2 2.11 build 6.617, otherwise setup will crash upon loading.
