Microsoft Plus! 98 build 1722.1 is the official Release Candidate 0 build of Microsoft Plus! 98. It was compiled on 6 April 1998, and expires on 31 May 1998. It was uploaded on 1 February 2019 on BetaArchive.[1]
New features and changes[edit | edit source]
- Themes now implement title bar gradients instead of using a solid color.
- Added the Cityscape, Geometry, PhotoDisc and Rock-n-Roll themes, while removing Gourmet and Skateboard Kid themes.
- Changed backgrounds of Cathy, Doonesbury, Foxtrot, Garfield, Windows 98, and World Traveler themes.
- Added Organic Art screensaver.
- Added a new boot screen that includes the RTM boot screen with the "Plus!" branding and the "98" on the logo colorized.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
- Unlike later builds, it allows to set a theme and run the Maintenance wizard before the computer is being restarted.
- McAfee VirusScan does not scan on boot due to a "not enough memory" error, which leads to boot pausing until a key is pressed.
