Mac System Software 6.0.5 is a version of Mac System Software 6.x which was released on 19 March 1990. This was the first version to be compatible with the Macintosh IIfx which was, at the time, the fastest and most powerful Macintosh computer. During the first boot, it will request the user to enter a name for the computer.

Changes[edit | edit source]

  • The copyright date in the about box was updated from 1983-89 to 1983-90.
  • This version now uses the gray 256 colors at which the Apple logo is gray.
  • QuickDraw was added in this build.
  • ImageWriter 5.2, LaserWriter 5.2 and LaserWriter driver 6.0.1 was added, and supported PostScript on black and white and colour LaserWriter printers.
