It was originally sent to key players in the computer industry by Microsoft to prove that their product wasn't vaporware. Before releasing the official version, [[Windows 1.01]], the memory management code had to be completely rewritten; this would be the key difference between Premiere and 1.01.

A build was leaked in 2008 purporting to be the Premiere Edition. The 2008 build still remains available on several websites, but it is a known fake. In 2014-03, [[BetaArchive]] user trueyanksfan claimed to have the real floppies, and also posted a photo of them. On 2014-12-18, a set of disk images from the real Premiere Edition was released by the BetaArchive user Alias, through mrpijey.

Windows 95
Windows 95 (codenamed Chicago) is a consumer version of Windows released by Microsoft. It was designed to be the successor of Windows 3.1 and would be replaced by Windows 98. Microsoft ended support for Windows 95 on 2001-12-31.

It improved upon 16-bit Windows by introducing a hybrid 16/32-bit kernel and eliminating the need for an existing installation of MS-DOS, making it a standalone operating system (running alongside MS-DOS). Microsoft focused on improving the usability of Windows with technologies such as Plug-and-Play, long file names (VFAT), the Start Menu, an updated Desktop, Internet Explorer and Mail, built-in networking, and virtual device drivers.
