On 2016-01-13, this build was released to Fast Ring insiders. This build is mostly similar to 11082 in UI, but the new OneCore system is now MUCH more stable than it was before.</div>Nekrif58https://betawiki.net/index.php?title=Windows_Cougar_build_028&diff=10364Windows Cougar build 0282016-01-17T22:32:05Z<p>Nekrif58: </p>

'''Cougar build 28''' is a fake build of Microsoft Windows, supposedly part of the Cougar project which was said to predate Chicago. The build itself is a modified Windows for Workgroups 3.11, while the Cougar codename was actually used for the 32-bit protected-mode kernel introduced with Chicago<ref>http://www.windowswiki.info/wp-content/uploads/codenames/PX05516.pdf</ref> and not an entirely separate OS.<br />
<br />
According to the NFO file included, it was released by Battler on the Euro-Asian Beta Group in 2008. It can still be found online to this day<ref>http://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=125150#p125150</ref><ref>https://sites.google.com/site/chicagowin95/index/cougar28</ref>.<br />

<div>== In favor of NFO ==<br />
Removing the NFO is blatant censorship; it was included in the leak and is as historically important as the build itself. If we remove this NFO, we '''must remove all other NFOs''' for every other build out there on this wiki, because what if other people are offended by other content? In my honest opinion it should be all or nothing. ~ Derf, 12/29/14, 2:31 PM EST <br />

There's 0% need to keep adding the associated NFO which contains flames to people and will keep involve many people in troubles. The x86 compile of this build was leaked by KiTTY as a "Christmas present" on 2014-12-24. This build is a RTM candidate, but was rejected in favor of 9200. It is not much different from the retail version of 9200, expect that it does not contain any Modern apps minus Store and Internet Explorer.<br />
<br />

Build 8888 leaked with the following NFO, which is highly critical of the BetaArchive staff. This NFO is republished here for historical achievement purposes only, and is not a statement against the work of the BetaArchive staff.<br />

'''Windows 3.00 RC6''' was scene leaked at some point in early 1990. It resurfaced on 2015-06-02, thanks to Overdoze <ref>http://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=34298</ref>. It was mistakenly labeled as the RTM version ("Production release") by whoever leaked it originally. However, this build is 1-2 months earlier than the RTM and has several differences in file sizes.<br />
