New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

The Suggested actions feature, which initially introduced in build 25115, has been rolled out to all users in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

File Explorer[edit | edit source]

  • The ability to open a folder in a new tab by middle-clicking it in the body of File Explorer has been added.
  • The row of tabs has been included in the keyboard focus cycle when pressing Tab ↹ or F6.

Settings[edit | edit source]

The ability to view details about the OneDrive Standalone 100GB subscription under the Accounts page has been added. This feature is only available to a subset of users.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

The SOM currency sign (U+20C0) has been added to the Courier New font family.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

General[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue causing devices on Surface Pro X devices to hit a black screen when attempting to resume from hibernate.
  • Fixed an issue causing some users to experience a SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED bugcheck related to USBs.
  • Fixed an issue causing some users to experience a 0x1CA (SYNTHETIC_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT) error after left idling for some time.
  • Fixed an issue that was leading to InventorySvc consuming an unexpectedly high volume of memory the longer it was running on builds 25136 and 25140.
  • Fixed a rare issue that could lead to certain apps to sporadically crash on launch.

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue where the tab order when using Ctrl+Tab ↹ would be wrong if users rearranged the tabs in File Explorer.
  • Fixed an issue causing the animation when selecting the More button in the Start menu's Recommended section in right-to-left (RTL) languages to not appear correctly.
  • Fixed an issue when dismissing notification center using the keyboard, its closing animation won't show correctly.

Narrator[edit | edit source]

Fixed an issue causing Narrator to not read the dialog that opens when uninstalling an app from its context menu in the Start menu and those options correctly.

Settings[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue causing the Settings app to show boxes when typing a number in the search box when using an Arabic display language.
  • Fixed an issue causing the Settings app to crash when going to the Printers & Scanners page in the last few builds.
  • Fixed a couple crashes that some users were experiencing in the last few builds when opening the Wi-Fi section of Quick Settings, or after connecting or disconnecting from networks in the Wi-Fi section in Quick Settings.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the Wi-Fi option in Quick Settings and the Wi-Fi section in the Settings app to sometimes take a few seconds to appear.
  • Fixed an issue that was leading Quick Settings to be unexpectedly dismissed when using touch to rearrange the items in Quick Settings when in edit mode.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

General[edit | edit source]

  • Some games that use Easy Anti-Cheat may crash or cause the device to bugcheck.
  • Some users may experience a KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED bugcheck in NetAdapterCx.sys.

Setup[edit | edit source]

When booting into the installation media of this build, Setup may fail to launch due to CoCreateInstance failure related to the on-screen keyboard.[1] This issue can be bypassed by the following methods:

  • Use an answer file on top of install.wim to perform an unattended setup.
  • Boot into the installation media of previous builds with install.wim replaced by this build's install.wim.
  • Use dism.exe to directly apply install.wim.

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • The Mica material and Acrylic blur effect may not render correctly in OS surfaces like the Start menu, Notification Center and other areas.
  • The Up button next to File Explorer address bar may be misaligned with other buttons.
    • This issue will only be encountered if the tabbed browsing feature is enabled on the device.
  • Launching File Explorer when using dark mode may unexpectedly show the body of File Explorer in light mode.
  • On some locales, the default font used in several UI elements (such as the date and time on the taskbar) may change to regular Segoe UI instead of Segoe UI Variable.

Widgets[edit | edit source]

Widgets preferences, such as temperature units and pinned widgets, may unexpectedly reset to default in some cases.

Live captions[edit | edit source]

  • Certain apps in full screen (e.g., video players) may prevent live captions from being visible.
  • Certain apps positioned near the top of the screen and closed before live captions is run may re-launch behind the live captions window positioned at top.

Safe mode[edit | edit source]

  • Quick Settings and date/time clock on the taskbar may be missing due to the Capability Access Manager Service service not running.
  • Clicking Bluetooth & devices and Personalization pages may crash the Settings app due to an overrun of a stack-based buffer 0xc0000409.

Updates[edit | edit source]
