MS-DOS 3 is a family of versions of MS-DOS, initially released in August 1984.

MS-DOS 3.00[edit | edit source]

MS-DOS 3.00 was released in August 1984. It added support for FAT16 partitions up to 32 MB, 5.25" 1.2 MB floppy disk drives and the IBM AT internal clock.

MS-DOS 3.05 was released in 1985 for the RM Nimbus PC-186 series.

MS-DOS 3.06[edit | edit source]

MS-DOS 3.06 was released between late 1984 and early 1985. It was released for the Apricot Xi.

MS-DOS 3.10[edit | edit source]

MS-DOS 3.10 was released in April 1985. This version was the first that supported local area networks[1] and added the SELECT command for setting up MS-DOS on floppy disks.

MS-DOS 3.20 was released in January 1986. It added support for 3.5" double-density (DD) 720 kB floppy disk drives.

MS-DOS 3.21 was released in May 1987. It added support for the IBM Enhanced and Convertible keyboards.

MS-DOS 3.30[edit | edit source]

MS-DOS 3.30 was released in April 1987. It added support for 1.44 MB floppy disk drives and extended hard disk partitions. SELECT was extended to support installing MS-DOS on a hard disk. It is the last MS-DOS version to support Windows 1.0.

MS-DOS 3.31 was released in November 1987. It added support for FAT16 partitions larger than 32 MB.
